Engine Service
Steam Engineer - operates steam locomotive.
Steam Fireman - responsible for maintaining adequate steam pressure - monitors boiler water level and shovels coal into the firebox. Necessary step to qualification as a steam engineer.
Diesel Engineer - operates diesel locomotives.
Train Service
Conductor - in general charge of the train and all train and engine service personnel. Responsible for provide a safe and educational trip for all visitors.
Trainman/Switchman/Brakeman - assist conductor and passengers - align track switches for proper operation - provide visual signals for safe train operation. Necessary step to qualification as a conductor.
Car Host/Docent – narrates train trip, interprets artifacts and historical events to visitors. Answers lots of questions.
Museum Gift Shop - primary contact for museum visitors - answer questions - sell train tickets and gift items.
Archivist - review, organize and file historical documents.
Track Crew - install and maintain track and roadbed.
Steam and Diesel Repair - repair and maintain steam, diesel and gasoline engines.
Car Maintenance & Restoration - restore and repair rolling stock for museum display or operations.
Carpentry & Painting - everything from new display cases to historic narrow gauge railroad cars.
Car Cleaning - passenger cars get dirty and someone has to clean them!
Facilities maintenance - cleaning and maintaining the premises.
Special Events Planning - SantaFest, SteamFest, Fourth of July, etc. Help us put together our signature events.
Member Management - membership records, mailings, etc.
Publicity & Publications - help get the MNGRR message out! Write and talk for us.
