In addition to financial contributions, the railroad has an extensive list of items that would further our efforts. Again, all contributions are tax deductible!

We desperately need some sort of sheltered area for doing locomotive and coach work. This need not be a permanent structure. It should be of a material that is sufficiently weather tight and can be heated. Our coach work and locomotive repairs would progress a lot faster over the winter if we had this.

We need financial donations for restoration. Does a particular project interest you? This is crucial for the success of our organization. Money is needed to restore Steam Locomotives, repair our fleet of historic rolling stock, and to maintain the track! Contact us to learn how you or your business can sponsor a project!

We need a building in the Portland area, where we can set up a machine shop and restore/maintain equipment during the winter months. The building needs power and must keep the equipment dry. Ideally heated. The MNGRR has the original belt-driven tools of the Bridgton and Harrison Railroad with no place to set them up!

We would like:

• An air compressor capable of 180 psi for driving spikes.
• A new or well-maintained front end loader.
• A heavy trailer we can use to move engines and cars.
• A cleaning company who will donate services to us.
• Locking metal storage cabinets.
• A portable electric band saw to cut rail.
• A portable electric drill to make 1/2" or 1/4" holes in ties.
• Portable electric generators.
• Welding and cutting machines and equipment.
• New furniture and stackable chairs.
• Display cabinets.
• More volunteers to share the work (and the fun!).
• New outdoor and indoor signs.
• New gasoline cans with spouts.
• VHF FM radios with hand sets.
• New carpet for the office, archive and conference rooms.
• A wooden water tank for filling our steam engines.
• A coaling platform for filling our steam engines.
• A covered platform at the museum with benches.
• Garden clubs who will help us plant flowers and shrubs to beautify our right-of-way.
• Secure indoor storage space off-site.
• Conductor uniforms in assorted sizes.
